P-phthalic acid

Terephthalic acid, also known as p-phthalic acid, is the most productive binary carboxylic acid, mainly made from xylene, which is the main raw material for the production of polyester.It is a solid at room temperature.White needle crystal or powder.Soluble in alkaline solution, slightly soluble in hot ethanol, insoluble in water, ether, acetic acid and chloroform.Heating is not melting, above 300 ℃ sublimation.If in an airtight container in the heating, can melt at 425 ℃.It is difficult to dissolve in water at room temperature.Mainly used in the manufacture of synthetic polyester resin, synthetic fiber and plasticizer.

Application area:
  1. It is an important raw material for making polyester resin, film, fiber, insulating paint and engineering plastics.
  2. Most of the goods used in the production of polyethylene terephthalate oxalic ester (polyester), is polyester fiber, film, plastic products, the important raw material for insulating paint and plasticizer, also used in medicine, dyes and other products.
  3. Used for making synthetic resins, acids and plasticizers, etc.
  4. Organic synthesis, determination of the residual alkalinity of wool, gas chromatographic cleaning agent.The fatty acid can be separated by adding polyethylene glycol 200.
  5. Used as a chromatographic reagent.
